In northern Minnesota, scientists simulate the effects of rising temperatures and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations on peatland ecosystems with harrowing effects. This project was commissioned by Google Research as part of an initiative to identify opportunities for AI-powered remote sensing applications and produced in collaboration withresearcher Izzie Zahorian. As commissioning editor, who oversaw and launched the program from 2015-2018, I partnered with curators to select six artists and filmmakers each season for the short documentary program. Initially, I worked with filmmakers to develop a consistent brand voice and a nimble production approach to coincide each film’s release with the Museum’s exhibition program. Increasingly films took on their own visual languages, resulting in work as exciting and impactful as the artist exhibitions themselves.
