In one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in the world, a classroom of 7th graders in Elmhurst, Queens express their ways of seeing, to each other and A.I. This short film, currently in development, is an impressionistic scrapbook on what it means to be seen and understood. Who will understand each other better: human or machine?

In 1989, my mother and father left Poland on a travel visa, and never returned. In 2021, after my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I began cataloging an archive of color slide photographs taken in the three years prior to their departure. Then, she died from Covid-19. This film, currently in production, investigates mothers and daughters, and the promises they make to each other.

Welcome to a warmer future. In northern Minnesota, scientists simulate the effects of rising temperatures and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations on peatland ecosystems with harrowing effects. This project was commissioned by Google Research as part of an initiative to identify opportunities for AI-powered remote sensing applications and produced in collaboration withresearcher Izzie Zahorian. Although a film was never produced, this project uncovered strategies for transforming the building blocks of film – image and sound – into vivid, cinematic, and immersive research artifacts.

What does it take to run a modern, contemporary arts museum? This series offers a generous look at people at work, allowing viewers to drop into the many public and private rooms of the Museum. Building on traditions of verite film from Jean Rouch to Frederick Wiseman, and on the trust of partnerships, a team of cinematographers and story producers trusted in the patience  of the viewer to deliver this unrivaled online web series.
